Bialaszewo

Bialaszewo, a village in the county of Szczuczyn, gmina and parish of the
same name. It has a parish church, made of wood and built in 1709 by Seweryn
Szczuka, suffragan bishop of Chelm; it has the local gmina office and a
school. In 1827 there were 20 houses and 121 inhabitants. Current area is
1,722 morgs. The parish of Bialaszewo, in Szczuczyn deanery, has 5,998
souls.

The gmina of Bialaszewo has a population of 5,000, and an area of 15,815
morgs. It is in court district II, in the settlement of Grajewo, 15 versts away, and is served by the post office in the county city of Szczuczyn, 17 versts away. The gmina includes: Bagienice, Bialaszewo, Brzozowo, Brzozowska-Wolka, Ciemno-Szyje, Gackie, Godlewo, Groziny, Klimaszewnica, Lipinskie, Lojki, Losiewo, Modzele-Wadolowo, Okol, Pieniazki, Sosnia, Sulewo, Zaborowo and Zalesie. The gmina is half populated by minor nobility, which comprise the exclusive population of 9 of the villages listed above; a mixed population [i. e., not exclusively nobles] owns three of the localities, and the rest are owned by peasants.  [Bronislaw Chlebowski]
