On the placards placed in front of the cemetery are the following
historical facts. PolishRoots® would like to thank Peter Jassem of
Toronto, for his translations into English for our readers.
1. Polish Army soldiers of General Przedrzymirski killed around
Aleksandrow on September 25-26, 1939. These formations include units of
Generals Olbrycht, Piekarski, Kruszewski, and Dindorf. Following
capitulation of the Northern Front Army of General Dab Biernacki, these
men tried to force their way through German enemy positions in order to
move south towards the Hungarian border.
2. The Military cemetery in Aleksandrow-Sigla. Soldiers of Army Krakow
killed in action on September 15-17, 1939 in battles to overcome German
positions in the direction of Lukow, Cieszanow, Rawa Ruska, and Lwow.
Soldiers of Army Krakow of General Szyling killed in battles near
Aleksandrow on September 15-17, 1939.
